Mike Long received the Otley College Horticultural National Award in 2008. It was during this time that Mike realised he had the drive and ambition to expand on his knowledge and put his insatiable creativity to work by starting his own business. Since the completion of this essential qualification, Mike has received accreditation and experience in design, patio laying, brick work, fencing, soil science, plant identification and more.
Since the moving business from Maldon in Essex, to Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk in 2012, the Genesis Landscapes team has gone from strength to strength, growing from just one man to a team of 6 employed staff and 3 other specialist sub-contractors. Having invested in more modern equipment, Mike has increased the range of projects the growing company can deliver.
Mike’s wife Lizi joined the team to support the business and project management, giving Mike more time to serve the company’s growing client base. In 2014, Genesis Landscapes won the regional Awards for Best Engineering Project and Best Patio over 35m2 in the Marshalls Awards. Mike also championed in the National awards, being crowned the National Contractor of the Year, having made it down to the final 11 organisations from over 600 projects across the country.
